Rodney King asked., "Why can't we all just get along?"
This is my answer. This I believe:
Pour this truth over the falsity of demon-ization of the other: There is no other. There are only illusions perpetuated by the narrow minded arrogance of refusing to look at a differing point of view, by the self satisfaction available only to those who lack self knowledge and thereby, self honesty.
Defective belief: My religion is true. Yours is false. My people are moral. Yours are immoral. My nation is good. Yours is bad. All these errors are the result of misplaced faith. Faith in fallible leadership, whether religious, familial or political is defeating to the self.
Notice the use of the term 'self' in the preceding paragraphs. Our world is populated with a vast majority of selves who have never even considered what a self is, what makes themselves the way they are, what is their inherited 'nature', what is their experienced 'nurture'. Unfortunately, the lack of that consideration has not kept some of the most ignorant people in the subject of self from aspiring to and acquiring leadership positions of all types. There, using their natural, ignorant tendency to demonize, they cause terrible damage.
The people most qualified for intelligently considered and reasonable leadership are not the people who generally gravitate toward those positions. Instead we have the power hungry, people who are driven by the arrogant certainty of 'knowing' they have all the answers for the rest of us. Then the rest of that aforementioned majority are pathetically and apathetically ready to put their faith in the 'certainty' projected at them by that defective leader.
This is true. This is our planetary problem. It does not have to be like this. The vast majority of people in all nations want the same things out of life. They want peace and a decent way of life for their families. They only follow defective leaders because they do not have the sophistication necessary to question that leadership. They are moved by their natural belief in the necessity of trusting and following their leaders. Can we get them past this trust?
I believe we can. Look at the effect of Al Gore's, (aided by others), crusade against global warming. Look at the change in the American political climate. When people are armed with the truth, they begin to think and question defective leadership. This includes all types of leaders: religious, familial and political.
People can be influenced from afar with a new type of leadership: First you get their attention with something or someone fascinating enough to hold their attention. Then you begin to give them obvious logical truths, interspersed with images and entertainment to make them want more. Give them small doses of things to think about which would improve their lives, things to talk about with their families and friends. Suggest that they ask their friends to watch the presentations. Over time, as the exposure to more and more people spreads, kind of like a virus, give them more and more of the obviously logical information. Eventually, ask them if their leaders should be followed. Ask them if their leaders are helping or hurting their chances at a decent future. And, so on...
At a time in this process it must be conveyed, gently and logically, that there are many religions, but, there is obviously only one God, interpreted in many different ways. Despite the sacred volumns, each of which is devoutly followed by it's adherents, each is only as factual as it's various translations, interpretations can allow. To disavow the Book of a competing religion is to possibly disavow the real word of God. There is no possible way to know, despite the vehement protestations of the elders.
Also, vengeance, retribution, killing and destruction in the name of God, must be left in the realm of God. Humans are fallible. God is not fallible.
I would think that most, if not all, secular humans hearing these presentations would gladly keep their mouths shut and let messages go forth. It is a win - win.
At some later point, it might be good to present interviews of various women leaders from all walks of life, as an example to those who do not appreciate the valuable contributions that women make when given the opportunity. I believe that women generally run things better than men in most categories, maybe all.
Leadership... grab attention, hold interest, gather respect, develop understanding, show the benefits, attain conviction, engender cooperation, offer praise and encouragement... in that order.
The messages could go out on the internet and via satellite twice daily for about one hour. The messages should be non-denominational, non-national and presented by a beautiful, young, Eastern European, English speaking woman. She must be able to sing sweetly and passably, but have no established fame. A little 'infamy' may be acceptable, if it would add to her fascination quota. She must have a very expressive face and be able to project all emotions. She must have great charisma. She must be intelligent and educated enough that she understands the commitment and the potential she is involved with. The operation must be based in a neutral country like Sweden or Switzerland. It must be kept secret and well guarded.
I believe this can be done.
